About What Inspired

What Inspired is a free tool for finding games like your favorites and tracing what inspired them. Pick any title — Hades, Hollow Knight, Elden Ring, Stardew Valley — and we map out the games that shaped it and the ones it went on to influence.

Why it exists

Every great game stands on the shoulders of others. Searching for "games like X" usually means scrolling through 10-blue-link listicles. We wanted something faster, more visual, and more honest about why two games actually feel similar — shared themes, shared studios, shared design DNA.

How it works

We pull metadata from the IGDB game database — genres, themes, keywords, studios, franchises — and score how strongly each candidate matches the game you searched.
